With our new video project “CROSS COUNTRIES,” we embark on yet another thrilling adventure, exploring some of the most breathtaking trails in North America. From the very roots of mountain biking in the USA to the enchanting Canadian forests and the challenging rock slabs of British Columbia, we bring you a visual feast of the best spots this continent has to offer.
But our journey goes beyond merely capturing these extraordinary landscapes. It’s about sharing my unique and sometimes unconventional perspective on cycling, showcasing it in extraordinary environments that I strive to elevate. It’s an artistic endeavor, an adaptation to the surroundings, where I blend my passion for cycling with my means of expression, which predominantly takes place on the bike.
For years, I have shaped my vision of mountain biking around unconventional and visually striking locations, often far from the confines of bike parks and trail centers. These places fascinate me, as do the encounters I have along the way. And let’s not forget the immense effort that goes into the production of a film like this. To create exceptional content that stands out, one must play on multiple fronts while adapting to the unique challenges of each shoot. I express myself by pushing boundaries, breaking rules, and daring to explore unconventional ideas, as long as they retain meaning.
During our time in Canada and the United States, we struck the perfect balance that allowed me to channel my creative energy into these extraordinary locations. We focused on enhancing other creative aspects, such as curating sequences of various spots with contrasting settings, and even injecting a touch of playful scripting that humorously addresses a few American clichés.
Moreover, my riding style underwent a transformation. Contrasting with my usual alpine paths, where I rarely exceed 10km/h, I unleashed a renewed vigor and intensity. However, to fully embrace this adventure, I sought the most versatile mountain bike possible. The COMMENCAL T.E.M.P.O.
